- Kaylene’s career has continually evolved through education and creativity. She specializes in Personal coaching sessions, building the stylists’ confidence, skill level and industry knowledge, recognizing and focusing on individual strengths and weaknesses.

Sue Edwards: Edge-ucation with Excellent Edges
Scissor Smith & Cutting Educator
Based in Melbourne
- Sue travels the world teaching Pivot Point education in Germany, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Melbourne and here in Newcastle.
- Sue will teach you to look at your scissors with new meaning. Her aim is to show you more effective ways to help you with; posture, maintenance, hand and cutting skills including scissor grip. Sue will teach you so much about a variety of back to basic skills and texturising techniques just to name a few.
- At Sue’s course you will learn the latest cutting techniques and you will experience working with your own kit of quality tools for the day. Artists use many different brushes and musicians can play all sorts of instruments. Why then would a hair artist restrict themselves to just one or two scissors?
- Sue is so unique in that she even designs her own tools. Being a scissor smith and a hairdresser is what makes Sue so gifted, she really understands! The most popular scissor she has designed is the “Shark”.
- Why weren’t we taught this at school you ask??? Because for years we have had scissors put in our hands and told to cut.

Trudi-Anne Carmody: Independent Trainer

- Trudi-Anne has 27 years experience in the hairdressing industry, starting her career in Maitland under Ray O’Connor. She later moved to Sydney in 1991 to work with Sharon Blain for 7 years then proceeded to open her own business and remained there for 5 years.
- She is now based in Sydney at Zalmhair where she has been for the last 7 years.
- Trudi-Anne has represented Australia in 1992 at World Cup in Hairdressing. She has attended courses in London, Berlin and Australia and has presented in hair shows all over Australia.
- Trudi-Anne shows different styles for long hair that are refreshing, longstanding styles whilst teaching new techniques that can be used in the salon environment.
- Trudy will show you Classic and modern styles.
Wendy McCormack: Hair at Greta

- Wendy is a successful salon owner with 30 years of hairdressing experience.
- She is a left-handed cutter, but like many, when started hairdressing, was made to use right-handed scissors. Wendy has since redeveloped her skills using left-handed scissors.
- This course will inspire you with her exceptional talent and perseverance in being able to adapt to the correct tools, cutting techniques and hand skills.
- Wendy presents models from the beginning to the finished style.
David Melrose: Independent Trainer

- David began Hairdressing in 1986 in Dee Why. As an apprentice he began demonstrating on stage as part of the Junior I.H.S. Team for Joico and assisting at Hair Expo. David then spent many years travelling to London to attend Vidal Sassoon. He then began working for Hair Professionals delivering workshops and look and learn seminars with the likes of Rob Hastie, Anthony Whitaker, Adam Noble, Paul Whitehead and Alison Schoer. David was the owner of Sessions Hairdressing and Education.

- Courses include, Getting on the Floor for no or little experience in cutting hair. A comprehensive 2 day course taking you from long hair through to short hair. Gain skills needed to approach haircuts with confidence. One Step Further Taking your classic cutting techniques to the next level, learn how to keep your clients coming back for more, a demonstration & discussion in the morning followed by an afternoon of hands on. Fashion forecast is an evening of demonstration & discussion on where fashion is at & where it is headed. You will learn how to interoperate current and future trends and how to make them salon relevant.
Jean Boyd: Independent Trainer
Master Colourist
Based in Newcastle
- Jean has been in the hairdressing industry for 24 years.
- For the past 7 years Jean has worked for various colour companies, including Goldwell/Kms with the national hotline and then became the Colour Educator for Brisbane. Jean worked as Educator of the Hunter and Canberra. Jean worked as a specialist educator working nationally with the company.
- In 2006 Jean moved to the UK and was appointed as the Northern UK Education Manager and also trained as a Colour Master at the Goldwell London Academy.
- Returning to Australia in 2008, Jean started her boutique salon specialising in colour. Jeans classes include, Colour Foundations: It’s important to switch on a young colourist in the very beginning of their careers. Confidence is the key to success and this is where it starts. Colour Correction: Having confidence in knowing how to correct any colour problem will help build a strong and loyal colour clientele. Colour Design: Is all about looking at colour from a more artistic angle. Often the simplest techniques can produce amazing results, it's knowing how to create these that make you a step ahead of your competitors. No models required in these courses and we are not associated with any colour companies.
Nicky Garrard: Independent Trainer

- Nicky has 19 years experience in this industry. Her achievements include; managing a Newcastle salon with 8 staff, owning her own salon for 8 years with 5 staff members and managing a team of 40 staff members at another salon. In that time she has been broadening her knowledge by attending courses with Goldwell, PPS, Joico and L’Oreal.
- Nicky has had extensive training with international trainers in retail management and has trained staff about the importance of client communication skills and why it’s so important to get it right the first time and continually keeping your standard at that level.
- Nicky has a positive and committed approach to her industry. Teaching and marketing is her passion.
- Nicky started with the Academy at the start of this year as Marketing / Sales Manager. Her easy approach and can do attitude makes her successful in many ways.
